For the believer, the fear of God is not fear, but a deep respect for him. It means recognizing his greatness and holiness, and approaching him with a humble heart.
As Hebrews 12:28-29 says : “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us hold fast to the grace that allows us to worship God in a way that is pleasing to him, with reverence and godliness. For our God is a consuming fire.”
This fear reminds us that God is both full of grace and just in his power.
